Stivers Law is an educational law firm at its core. We are not merely document preparers or paper pushers. Rather, we provide legal services to our clients and continue to provide ongoing support and education throughout our clients’ lifetimes.
Here is an example of what that means.
A person comes to us because they want to create their estate plan, which likely includes a will and a trust. Over the course of a few weeks, we have several meetings with the client and their family to discuss their present and future goals. Part of the conversation is about what they would like to happen with their things after they pass away, but it also includes their current affairs. After all, many items need to be addressed and taken care of for the benefit of the person who is creating the plan and not just for their heirs and beneficiaries.
We discuss their finances, tax situation, and asset protection and find out whether they have adequate insurance for themselves and their family now and for generations to come. We then craft a plan that is unique to their situation. However, our role doesn’t end after the client signs the estate plan. We provide regular workshops for them and their family. We provide ongoing education in the form of newsletters, webinars, seminars, and emails alerting them to changes in the law or events that might affect their plan. We meet with our clients at least every three years to determine whether any substantive changes have occurred that would require an update to their plan. We also meet with their kids and family members to discuss their roles in the plan. Our goal is to be at the family’s side for generations.
That is why we say it is not about the documents. In theory, the documents are free. The client is paying for the ongoing relationship, support, and guidance we provide over their lifetime.
This is why we exist. We work with clients who are looking for a lifelong partner to provide assistance and guidance in all areas of their life. Whether we are assisting you with estate planning, trust and probate administration, Medicaid and elder law services, or financial services, we want to be your family’s “in-house” attorney.
Stivers Law exists to be your law firm for life. We want to be your attorney, your children’s attorney, and your grandchildren’s attorney. Preparing documents for our clients is not just a one-time transaction for us. It is the start of a lifelong relationship.
